Having a windfall of cash dropped on your lap is something that will happen seldom, if ever, in your life. We might fantasize about it all the time and think to ourselves what we might do if our lives were suddenly changed thanks to a large sum of money falling out of the sky. The reality, though, is that very few of us will experience this happening without some kind of horrific trade-off: personal injury settlement, insurance, or inheritance. All of which bear a substantial cost associated with them and in a lot of cases aren't anything to wish for or take lightly. Oftentimes, in these cases, you'll find yourself wishing that you could trade the money back to have things back the way they were before.

Of course, if and when this happens, if others learn about it, every relation and associate you ever might have had will come crawling out of the woodwork. You hear this all the time with lottery winners, who often are fleeced so heavily by their families and communities—along with their own poor spending habits and financial management—that they go broke in record time.

This adoptee, who was adopted as a child, learned that they were the sole beneficiary of their birth mother, who left them a healthy sum. The issue is that their other similarly adopted siblings, who bear no relation to the deceased, feel entitled to some of the money, arguing that they should be getting an even split of the funds. Frustrated, the adoptee has taken to this online community in an appeal to readers to see what they should do.
